Institutional Communications & Leadership
Strategic Communications & Media Training
As Press Director for Colombia's House of Representatives, I led a 90-person team, relaunched a national TV program, and grew digital engagement by 2,000%, earning 5 nominations at the Latin American Television Awards (TAL).
Strategist and spokesperson trainer for nonprofits, public institutions, and public figures across the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, and Spain, including five years as a communications trainer for Bancolombia's analyst school, one of Latin America's largest financial institutions.
I'm Lorena Beltrán, bilingual journalist, communications strategist, and content producer with over 10 years of experience across newsrooms, government offices, corporations, and nonprofits in Latin America and the United States.
My path started in journalism. I covered international summits, broke political stories, and learned that the difference between information and impact is how you tell the story. That instinct of knowing what matters, who needs to hear it, and how to make it land is what I brought into strategic communications, and what I apply to every project I take on.
In 2016, my investigative reporting uncovered irregular medical credentials among plastic surgeons operating in Colombia. The story didn't stop at publication: I launched #CirugíaSeguraYA (#SafeSurgeryNow), a digital campaign that mobilized thousands of citizens and pushed a consumer protection bill in Congress. The reporting triggered judicial investigations and convictions. The work earned three formal recognitions: one of Colombia's largest national newspapers named me Person of the Year; the Ministry of Information and Communications awarded me the National Prize for Digital Social Mobilization; and the Colombian Senate formally recognized my journalistic work's contribution to the country's public health.
I've led communications operations at the highest institutional levels, including serving as Press Director for Colombia's House of Representatives, where I managed a 90-person team, relaunched a national TV program, and grew digital engagement by 2,000%.
I've designed strategies for organizations supported by a major U.S. philanthropic foundation across Mexico, Spain and Colombia, managed press relations for world-record athletes with coverage in international media, and trained spokespersons across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including five years as a communications trainer for Bancolombia's analyst school, one of Latin America's largest financial institutions.
My work has been recognized by the U.S. government for extraordinary ability in communications, a distinction granted to individuals who demonstrate sustained national or international acclaim in their field.
I work in English and in Spanish.
